Symptoms of Nose Cancer
These symptoms could indicate that you are suffering from Nose CancerWhat Are The Symptoms of Nose Cancer?
One of the difficulties in diagnosing nose cancer early is that many of the symptoms are synonymous with other, less serious conditions such as the common cold or ‘flu.
The most common early symptoms of nose cancer include:
- A blocked nose that does not clear, even with decongestants or blowing the nose
- Pressure or pain behind your nose or even in the top of your mouth
- Nosebleeds
- Blood when blowing the nose
- A reduction in the sense of smell
- Bulging of the eyes
- A lump in the nose
- Persistent tearing of the eye
If left untreated further symptoms can include:
- Numbness in the nose, cheek, upper lip and the roof of the mouth
- Headaches
- Chronic sinus infections that do not reduce even with antibiotic treatment
- Double vision
- Changes in speech
- Loose teeth in the upper jaw
- Fatigue
- Unexplained weight-loss
In some cases people suffering with cancer of the nose will not display any of these symptoms, or at least not until the cancer has developed to a dangerous stage. Nose cancer is commonly discovered when treating other less serious diseases or conditions such as inflammatory diseases of the sinuses, including sinusitis.
While no-one wants to waste doctors’ time, if you or someone you care for suffers with any of these symptoms without a clear explanation or reason as to why, then it is far better to be safe than sorry and to arrange an appointment with your GP. If it is caught early, most nose cancer can be treated successfully without too many ongoing issues, however if it is allowed to grow and / or spread, the danger increases significantly.
If you or a loved one have spent time working in dusty environments or around certain chemicals or chemical vapours, it is of paramount importance that you have any concerns checked out by a doctor so that any potential risk can be minimised.
