How Can Nose Cancer Be Prevented In The Workplace?
There are a variety of different ways in which the risk of nose cancer in the workplace can be reduced, the most powerful of them all being knowledge and understanding of the risks presented by certain substances.
Employers are responsible for the health and safety of their employees no matter what their job involves, and so the best way to understand the risks is to perform a thorough risk assessment. By investigating any potential threat to employee safety, employers can identify ways and means of lowering those risks using a variety of techniques, including:
Substitution of substances – in some cases a dangerous substance can be substituted for something less risky that can achieve the same result. If this is possible it makes a very good first step at reducing risk, but in many cases substitution is not possible and so other avenues must be investigated.
Thorough training of employees about risks and potential dangers can make a significant reduction in workplace illness and injury, simply by ensuring that the employees are aware of the dangers and how to minimise risk for themselves.
Health Surveillance involves the regular testing of employees to monitor any illness they might develop, ensuring that any changes within the body are properly investigated and if needs be making changes to employment roles or tasks to reduce the effects of illness.
Ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained not only reduces the risk of direct injury, it can foster a better understanding of potential danger for all employees. Many machines used in manufacturing will have built-in safety aspects that might not function as well as they should if they are not properly maintained.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can reduce the risk of exposure to a range of dangerous substances and situations, but only if each member of staff is properly trained in how to use the equipment, how to store it safely, how to clean it properly, and how to identify any issues that might reduce the effectiveness of the protection it offers. Providing protective equipment without training people how to use it properly is almost as bad as not providing it in the first place.
